going elsewhere B&B ALTROVE - andando altrove B&B ALTROVE

Going ALTROVE....elsewhere....means B&B ALTROVE Prarostino(accent on the tino please), Piedmont, Boot-Shaped Peninsula. Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go....and that is ALTROVE is found. In the mountains or rather about 700 meters up into the mountains near Turin. Lush forest surrounds Altrove. Not only surrounds it but envelops the entire building curling around it in the form of lush creeping Canadian ivy, flowering plants, incredibily beautiful roses...you name it. It's FALL Altrove and that means Indian Summer colors throughout the entire area. Think of Maine or New Hampshire or such and you have the perfect picture of what this place is all about...but then you have to remember that the boot-shaped peninsula has its own special type of hospitality. Friends who have this wonderful B&B decorated every room with the idea of not only comfort but simple beauty chic. It took me a while to understand the up and down movement from room to room and from area to area...if you start downstairs in the cosy home kitchen you then can connect directly to the dining room which was once a Carli Oil shop. That was 93 years ago as a foto on the stairwell attests. The huge woodburning stove warms the atmosphere almost as much as the company of Grazia and Ferri, the two owners of Altrove. A country kitchen with a peruvian cement work counter and under the counter everything makes the place exceptional. I WANT A COUNTER OF peruvian cement work! Looks like marble, easy to clean...but that's another story. Outside the home kitchen there is a little green garden which leads to the summer space and patio where you can eat outdoors. Of course in Autumn Altrove has a different face - it's WINTER IS COMING face which means lots of wood in the woodsheds, lots of movement between kitchen and woodshed to keep the fire going. Lots of wonderful perfumes of cooking for meals which keep you warm and cosy...and all this is still on the first floor.
Then you go upstairs from the kitchen and find a dormeuse and bathroom which lead into a marvelously old wooden-floored living room ... if it were in a huge house all connected someone would call it a great room. Ya know I kind of think great rooms can be had just about anywhere and ALTROVE has this GREAT ROOM with two huge really huge queen-sized beds made up as couches which face...well ALTROVE so that you can read and relax in total abbandon...cosy has reached new levels guys. and this is only floor two...
take the door and go one half floor up and you get to the kitchen dining room of the bed and breakfast which is a mini copy of the home kitchen...then another ramp of stairs, another incredible room with floor level mattress couch and books everywhere...then a door leading to the master bedroom...and that is all I'm telling about the prive part...
The B&B is a wonderfully decorated room with a bed inviting you to sleep for hours. I can attest to the possibility of doing so because once the shutters are closed and you turn off your light it is dark and silent. The adjoining bathroom is, well, a treat....huge shower stall and white white white towels which beg to envelop you with their warmth after having been hung on the towel warmer radiator...4 stars of absolute bliss...

and besides all this two friends who make ALTROVE the elsewhere you really love being...can't ask for more.
PS: after the first two or three trips up and down the stairs you really don't need a GPS....   AHAHAHAH
