bottle cleaning - pulendo bottiglioni

Sorry about the crooked neck you all are getting trying to focus on the picture. Yes, it is a sieve with little tiny rocks in it. Yes there is a big green bottle for wine on which the sieve is resting. No, I didn't do this on purpose to check whether or not you all are suffering from labirintitis...I just forgot to shift the photo to the left...these little rocks used to be in a vase with some hydroponic plants(those lovely fellas which you can grow in water). Now they are being used to clean wine bottles(after having been washed carefully themselves). The trick is to put hot water with bicarb into the bottle, then add the little rocks and shake gently from side to side...then let the rocks settle to the bottom at which point you then put the bottle in the position you see(make sure the tap/cap is on for obvious reasons) and gently rock the bottle from left to right and vice versa. At the end of the process hold the bottle up to the lite. All the little rocks will have settled to the bottom of the bottle and hopefully the sides of the bottle will be perfectly clean of any residual wine or other stuff which has accumulated on it. If it is still not looking perfect, repeat the process....IMPORTANT...when you're finished cleaning your bottle make sure to use a SIEVE to catch all the little rocks when the water comes flying out of the bottle into the sink. They're a nightmare to clean out of the drain!
